Emergency Services

Emergency Services

One of Civil Air Patrol's three missions is Emergency Services, and Civil Air Patrol conducts 85% of all inland search and rescue operations. Emergency Services (ES) qualified members are able to go on real world search and rescue missions searching for missing people, and conduct humanitarian relief.

Valparaiso Composite Squadron is heavily involved in Emergency Services and is capable of forming at least two ground teams at any point with experienced and knowledgable volunteers. Valparaiso Composite Squadron has won Wing, and Region Ground Team of the Year for 2019 and has been on several search and rescue missions.

For members to be qualified, they have to go through intensive training that without going to a dedicated academy, can take upwards of a year to complete. Valparaiso Composite Squadron has recently partnered with the Indiana K-9 Search and Recovery team to help with our Search and Rescue Trainings, and we are always looking for outside partners to help with more trainings.
